Let me start by saying… I Hate prism stones. When they came out, I was excited- the idea itself (of collecting stones and sending monsters away to change their appearance) isn’t entirely bad; it has potential. But once I saw the reality (that it just lets you get a different coloration of a completely mutated version of the original monster), I was sorely disappointed, and wished I hadn’t’ve sent any of my monsters through that portal. Let me explain: You have an entirely good monster, whose design was perfected to match their personality, song, and lore, then you mutate them into something completely unrelated (PomPom turns into giant bugs with flowers for hands, Noggins turn into jam jars, Reedlings turn into giant-mouthed monsters, etc.)

And while each new concept could be decent in the correct setting (like some of the futuristic ones fit pretty okay on Space Island), most of them are just completely out of place (stressed mutants floating on rainbows and clouds, for example)…

And each set of 6 colors just looks like the designers hurried to create something not very aesthetically pleasing or planned out, then create 5 rip offs of it. Just being honest. (They’re the same thing with barely any changes!!) The original monsters are so great… these just… aren’t.

So what could they have been? I personally have (in my opinion) a better-coordinated idea. Instead of 6 colors, why not do the 6 elements? You can take any monster and give them the “essence” of an element (whether they have it or not).
Examples: (sorry I don’t feel like drawing… use your imagination!)
Mammot…
- With cold: Extra fluffy, white and blue, crystals coming off of him
- With water: Sky, less fur. Tribal markings, seashell necklaces
- With earth: Made of stone, with matches of snow-like fur
- With plant: Vines growing up him, green-tipped fur
- With air: Covered in air-theme mechanics
- With fire: Similar to the current mammot prismatic
