I spent a buttload of time building an epic world in vanilla before deciding to go modded with Feed the Beast. If you’re like me, you’ll want to try to copy your old worlds into Feed the Beast to make them even more epic. Is it even possible? Yes it is. BUT FOREWARNING, There are the occasional issues. It may or may not work, it might work then stop working later, etc. Bedrock versions especially have compatibility issues. But, at least you will have tried, and at least you’ll still have your world in Vanilla.
Step 1: Copy your normal Minecraft world folder
How do I know if I have Java or Bedrock or the new Bedrock+Java edition? ;-;
The easiest way is to open minecraft. On the title screen, if it says MINECRAFT JAVA EDITION, it’s java. If it doesn’t, it’s either bedrock or the new bedrock + java edition. Since the latter two editions have the same steps, just go by whether it’s Java or not.
For JAVA edition:
- Press the start button and R button at the same time.
- Enter %appdata% and click OK.
- Open .minecraft
- Open the Saves folder
- Each folder is one of your worlds (named as such). Right click and “copy” the one you want.
For BEDROCK edition, or for the new BEDROCK+JAVA edition:
- Press the start button and R button at the same time.
- Enter %localappdata% and click OK.
- Open Packages
- Open the folder that starts with “Microsoft.MinecraftUWP.”
- Open Localstate
- Open Games
- Open com.mojang
- Open minecraftWorlds
- Each folder is one of your saved worlds. How do you know which is which? Open one, and open the note called “levelname.” It will tell you the name of that saved world. Back in the minecraftWorlds folder, right click and “copy” the one you want.
STEP 2: Paste your world into the correct Feed the Beast folder
- Press the start button and R button at the same time.
- Enter %localappdata% and click OK.
- Open .ftba
- Open Instances
- Open the folder with a bunch of random characters (not the .localCache but the other one)
- Open Saves
- Right click and “Paste” (if you used Bedrock / bedrock+java instructions, you can right click and Rename it to be the desired world name)
Before you play & Issues
Close out of the Feed the Beast app and reopen it. Launch your mod. It will probably take a little bit longer, which is fine. Your world should be in the single player world list. But again, this isn’t perfect. If it doesn’t show us, it’s probably incompatible. Bedrock worlds are most of the time incompatible, as bedrock and java don’t even have the same seeds for worlds, and feed the beast uses Java. If it does show up, and opens, hopefully it doesn’t have any issues. But, at least you tried! I hope some of your alls worlds work!!
